Swahili charm and affordable prices.

Restaurant and sunbeds are right on the beach.

•  Mbuyu Beach is a tiny,  eco-friendly lodge in a tropical garden on the Indian Ocean. An old baobab tree ("mbuyu" in Swahili) has given the place its name. Far and wide, there are no big hotels.

•  We have just five cottages and three rooms that can accommodate up to 16 guests.  If you are looking for peace and quiet in an unspoilt environment - this is your place. Sustainability is part of our everyday life and we support green projects throughout the village.

•  Our opening months fom October to Easter offer the greatest deal of sunshine and the best swimming conditions, due to the warm monsoon winds (Kaskazi), blowing from northeast. Only in October/November the subsiding southeastern Kusi winds might bring along some occasional rain and wash seaweed to the shore.

•  Msambweni has still kept its friendly Swahili charm. The fishermen moor their sailing boats close to the bungalows – so enjoying the “catch of the day” is always guaranteed in our much-praised little restaurant.

•  Located halfway between Mombasa and Tanzania, Msambweni is a good starting point for snorkeling trips to Shimoni or a safari in the Shimba Hills - if you want to leave your hammock at all...

The neighboring fishermen's bay: there may be some villagers around, but tourists are rare.
